REFLECTING ON THE YEAR SO FAR

It's hard to believe that we are already half way through the year. 2014 got off to a bit of a rocky start for me. While most the year I have spent at home recovering from back surgery, I've tried very hard to make the most of this time; building this blog, developing my website and just figuring out what I want and making plans for the future.

I haven't really opened up much about my back injury so far on my blog, but because it has played such a big role in my year so far and has shaped much of what I have been doing, I feel like I need to explain myself in order for you guys to get the most out of my posts.

At the end of January, when I was on holidays with some friends from high school and uni, I was in a pretty serious car accident, in which the driver lost control of the car and we ended up hitting a tree. As a result, I had a small puncture in my lung and a fractured vertebrae. I had to have surgery on my back as it was an unstable fracture, and this was followed by two weeks spent in rehab, helping me to recover.

The result of this meant that I was unable to go back to uni as I had planned. Instead, I deferred for the semester and for the last few months I have just been focusing on getting my life back to normal, while still working on my photography through this blog and through developing my website.

While I have tried to stay positive throughout this whole process (which I am extremely lucky that the outcome was not worse then what it was), there have been quite a few hurdles and set backs along the way. It is only now, in these last couple of weeks, that I feel like things are getting back on track. I've done a couple of photo shoots, some event photography, gone to uni a couple of times and I have been planning my trip to Europe, which is happening this month!

I have a lot to look forward to and a lot to be happy about. So here's to hoping that the second half of 2014 is a good one!
