handmade
I thought I would share this image with you. It was taken by the very talented Kate Marriott, and also a good friend of mine. I am excited that I get to work with her in the next few weeks doing food photography. We are planning to collaborate for some assignments at uni and it is always great to work with others to try something you haven't done before.
Make sure to check out her own page, which you have find here.

REFLECTING ON THE YEAR SO FAR
It's hard to believe that we are already half way through the year. 2014 got off to a bit of a rocky start for me. While most the year I have spent at home recovering from back surgery, I've tried very hard to make the most of this time; building this blog, developing my website and just figuring out what I want and making plans for the future.
I haven't really opened up much about my back injury so far on my blog, but because it has played such a big role in my year so far and has shaped much of what I have been doing, I feel like I need to explain myself in order for you guys to get the most out of my posts.
At the end of January, when I was on holidays with some friends from high school and uni, I was in a pretty serious car accident, in which the driver lost control of the car and we ended up hitting a tree. As a result, I had a small puncture in my lung and a fractured vertebrae. I had to have surgery on my back as it was an unstable fracture, and this was followed by two weeks spent in rehab, helping me to recover.
The result of this meant that I was unable to go back to uni as I had planned. Instead, I deferred for the semester and for the last few months I have just been focusing on getting my life back to normal, while still working on my photography through this blog and through developing my website.
While I have tried to stay positive throughout this whole process (which I am extremely lucky that the outcome was not worse then what it was), there have been quite a few hurdles and set backs along the way. It is only now, in these last couple of weeks, that I feel like things are getting back on track. I've done a couple of photo shoots, some event photography, gone to uni a couple of times and I have been planning my trip to Europe, which is happening this month!
I have a lot to look forward to and a lot to be happy about. So here's to hoping that the second half of 2014 is a good one!

Emma Watson
anyone who comes across it. While sharing my work and what I do is a huge foundation of what my blog is about, it is also about sharing what I love and my sources of inspiration. And there is no other individual who I am more inspired by than Emma Watson. I grew up watching her in the Harry Potter films and loved her as Hermione Granger. But I am even more inspired by her now, watching her strike out on her on, endeavouring to make her mark and try as many different things as she can. You can see more pictures of Emma and read her interview in Wonderland magazine. It is a great read and definitely worth checking out.

What's in my Bag?
Today I thought I'd share a peak of what you would find inside my everyday bag. I will eventually be posting what you would find in my camera backpack, but here you will find what I carry around with me on a day-to-day basis.
2014 Diary
You would always, ALWAYS, find my diary inside my bag. I find that when I am out and about I might get an idea for a photoshoot that I want to jot down. Or if I am on the train, I will start scheduling dates for certain posts for my blog. My diary is essentially with me wherever I go.
Magazines
I am obsessed with Elle magazine. I normally carry the latest one with me on the train. Otherwise, if I am out, I am probably buying the latest issue or any other fashion magazine for that matter.
Digital Camera
I can't always have my Digital SLR with me everywhere I go. I try to as much as I can, especially lately with Project Life. But for those days that I can't lug it around, I will have my compact camera in my bag just in case an awesome photo opportunity comes up!

TRYING SOMETHING NEW
Today I went a little outside my comfort zone. I filmed a behind the scenes video of a photoshoot I was involved in. The shoot was for my friend Emily, who goes to RMIT with me. We were using one of the university's studios and worked alongside an incredibly talented team. I have always had an interest in film, but I guess I was a little nervous to try it out as it is something I have never done before. But, I'm glad I did. I was very happy with the shots I got and it felt great to try something new. It reminds me of all that I still have to learn within the industry but also beyond that. I can't wait to share with you the finished product and also to make more fashion videos in the future!

LITTLE REMINDERS

Lately I have been getting stuck into organising some fashion photoshoots that I have planned for the next couple of weeks. It has been super fun getting back into the swing of things, I have missed the feeling of being on location for a shoot. For those of you who don't know me, I unfortunately had to defer from my second year of uni due to a back injury. All my work has been put on hold as I've spent the last few months recovering. But now, this quote resonates with me more than ever, and I am looking forward to being able to do what I love most - taking photos.

WISHLIST 01
I can't believe how close it's getting to my my trip to London and Paris. It is only a month and a half away now, and it gives me a good excuse to start thinking about what I will need take away with me. I'm loving the Roshe Run Nike runners, which I think will be perfect for those days I'll spend hiking through the English countryside. I'll need something to occupy my time on the 24 hour flight, (eeep!) so I figure I should start collecting magazines from now. I'm also obsessed with some of the gorgeous coats in Country Road as well as the herbal teas from T2.

Birthday Celebrations

Over the weekend I celebrated my Nonno's 80th birthday. The family decided it would be nice to go out for lunch for the occasion so we ventured to De Bortoli Winery, which is about a 40 minute drive from my house. The day was absolutely beautiful, we were lucky to have great weather and I felt right at home as assigned photographer for the event.
